New superintendents announced
Bishop Jonathan D. Keaton today announced that the new Superintendent for the West Michigan Annual Conference is William E. Haggard. He is currently serving the Lansing Mt. Hope United Methodist Church where he has been under appointment since 2002. "Bill" and Robin Haggard will begin his assignment to the Grand Rapids District on July 1, 2012 , following the tenure of the Reverend Laurie Haller.
"Thirty plus years of ministry have fully equipped William Haggard for the ministry of Superintending on the Grand Rapids District," commented Bishop Keaton. "Faithful and productive' typify his leadership in every local church appointment, conference and district position accepted over the years."
Bill Haggard has previously served Traverse City Asbury (1995), Cedar Springs/East Nelson (1989) and Lake Ann (1982). He received his B.A in psychology from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. In commenting on the new assignment of William Haggard, Bishop Keaton said,"Bill and his wife Robin are excited about the challenge ahead as a couple, a close knit family and servants of the One who calls us to 'Go make disciples.'" The couple have two grown children and three foster children. They are also proud grandparents to one and excited to share that another is "on the way."
Bishop Keaton also today named a new District Superintendent for the Detroit Annual Conference. The Reverend Elbert P. Dulworth is currently serving the Laingsburg United Methodist Church, where he has been under appointment since 2006. He and his wife Dawn will begin his assignment to the Marquette District following the tenure of Grant Lobb also on July 1, 2012.
