Meet our missionaries from Zambia

For years the West Michigan Conference has been a leader in the area of missionary salary support. Our congregations are in relationship with over 24 different persons in the field with the General Board of Global Ministries. Itineration is an oportunity for missionaries to say, "Thank you," and to share how lives are being changed.
Two missionaries, Delbert and Sandy Groves, will be in West Michigan Oct. 26-Nov. 15. They will visit supporting churches and others with the help of the Rev. Jon Pohl, the Conference Secretary of Global Ministries. The Groves would like to visit as many WMC churches as possible during their visit. The Groves serve at New Life Zambia, a project in Lane 2 of the Six Lanes. Their ministries touch the lives of many through P.E.T. (Personal Energy Transports), New Life Press, church planting, and Christian Health Education. Delbert and Sandy founded New Life Zambia in 2000. Delbert's focus is spiritual training. Sandy's ministry is primarily with women and children.
The Rev. Bernard Lumene will be accompanying the Groves during their time in the state. He has been working with Zambian children orphaned by AIDS since 2001. The first project--Front Porch Orphans of the Zambezi--is now known as Lord's Mountain Orphanage. In 2006 the Zambian government donated land for the construction of an orphanage. To date three buildings stand on the site.
The project is an Advance Special #14420T, also in Lane 2 of the Six Lanes. The ministry provides basic education, food, clothing and shelter. The program is making a difference in the lives of 35 children. On his Facebook page, Rev. Lumene states: "I am married to a beautiful wife named Betty. I have 40 children, five of them biological. I am the father of the Lord's Mountain Orphanage."
