Lake Louise opens window on Haiti

How can we partner with our sisters and brothers in Haiti? That's the central question to be addressed at Mission Focus Haiti, a retreat hosted at Lake Louise Christian Community Retreat Center Oct.15-17.
Retreat leader is Valerie Mossman-Celestin, Executive Director of HAPI, Haitian Artisans for Peace International. HAPI is an Advance Special of the General Board of Global Ministries (#3020490) and a Community of Shalom through Drew University.
"The solutions for Haiti are in Haiti," Valerie says. "We can walk alongside with tools, technology, training and education to empower Haitians to lead with creative, sustainable solutions for their own country."
Often, creativity and sustainability emerge from asking the right questions rather than giving pat answers. Questions like:
- What if we listened to the women and children in need?
- What if the answers to the needs of the people of Haiti rose up out of the people?
- What if we developed opportunities?
- What if the church invested in building a culture of peace amid societies at war?
The cost of the retreat is $100 to $189 depending on the type of lodging desired. Price includes meals and lodging. Click here for a brochure with registration form. Lake Louise Christian Community is located near Boyne Falls, situated on beautiful Thumb Lake.
