Miller, John

Rev. John Miller [Retired Detroit Annual Conference Clergy] died Sunday, May 19, 2013. 

Reverend Miller served in the following appointments in the West Michigan Conference: Leaton (1945), Gladwin Circuit (1946), Mesick (1949), Levering / Pelton (1956), East Jordan (1963) and Bear Lake / Arcadia / Pleasanton (1965). He transferred to the Detroit Annual Conference in 1968 where he served in the following appointments: Gaines and Ossineke / Hubbard Lake / Wilson (1970) and retired in 1982.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Brannan Funeral Home, 222 Second Ave., Alpena, MI 49707.
 
The funeral service will be Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 11:00 am at Ossineke United Methodist Church, 13095 US 23 South; Ossineke, MI 49766. [989-471-2334]

Van Lente, Lloyd R.

Rev. Lloyd R. Van Lente, age 96, died April 13, 2013 while in hospice care at Clark Retirement Community. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion Van Lente in 2006. 

He served the following appointments as pastor in the West Michigan Conference: Ferry 1955, Shepherd/Mt Pleasant Indian Mission 1958, Lakeview/Belvidere 1964, Ganges 1966, Fennville/Ganges 68, Caledonia/Parmelee 71, Lansing Central Associate 1977. He retired in 1982.

A service celebrating his life will be held at Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids, Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 3:00 pm with a time of fellowship to follow.  

 
Memorial contributions may be made in Lloyd’s name to Northlawn United Methodist Church or the Clark Retirement Community Foundation; both located in Grand Rapids.

Grauer, Rev. Charles D.

Rev. Charles D. Grauer, 68, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 while in hospice care. He is survived by his spouse, Patricia Grauer and their children and spouses, Kristen Grauer & Tim Warren; Kimberly Grauer; Jordan & Melissa Grauer.

 
Rev. Grauer served in the following appointments in the West Michigan Conference: Frontier/Cambria 1968; Frontier/Osseo Sept 15, 1969; Lansing Central (Assoc.) 1970; In School 1972; Grass Lake Jan 15, 1973; Three Rivers First/Ninth Street 1976; Alma 1981; Okemos Community 1989; Plainwell First 1996; Lansing Christ 2003; Retired Dec. 31, 2012. He also served the former Lickley Corners and South Pittsford churches in 1968-69 and provided ongoing pulpit supply to Baseline and Washington Heights churches in Battle Creek in 1972.
 
Visitation will be at Lansing Christ UMC, 517 W. Jolly Rd., Lansing, MI 48910 on Sunday, April 7 from 2 until 4 p.m. 
 
A celebration of Rev. Grauer’s life will also be held at Lansing Christ UMC on Sunday, April 7 at 4 p.m. with a meal for all following.

Johannides, Mildred Mae
Mildred Mae Johannides, 93, of Penney Farms, FL, died Friday, March 8, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Francis C. Johannides in 2003. She served alongside her husband at Robbins/Grovenburg UMC, Jackson Brookside UMC, Battle Creek Maple UMC, Sparta UMC, Lansing First UMC, St. John’s UMC, and Vicksburg UMC.
 
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at the Penney Memorial Church 4465 Poling Blvd, Penney Farms, FL 32079, Pastor Rex Lindemood presiding. Arrangements are being handled by Broadus-Raines Funeral Home, 501 Spring St., Green Cove Springs, FL 32043.

Marshall, Ray

Raymond Lee (Ray) Marshall, 73, died Monday, February 18, 2013. Ray was a leader of both Lay Speaking Ministries and Boy Scout Ministries in his local congregation and in the Albion District, and was West Michigan Associate Conference Lay Leader from 2006 to 2012. He is survived by his wife, Rosanne Marshall. 

Visitation will be Friday, February 22, 2013 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Eickhoff Funeral Home, 311 West Main Street, Mendon, MI.
 
A celebration of Ray’s life will take place Saturday, February 23, starting at 11:00 am at the Mendon UMC, 320 West Main Street, Mendon, MI.

Closson, Nathalie (Chenevert)
Nathalie Closson (nee Chenevert), age 92, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in South Elgin, IL. She was predeceased by her husband, Pastor Frank Closson, who died in 1988.
 
Nathalie served with her husband, a former EUB pastor, in Michigan. She also assisted him in serving at Garrett Evangelical Seminary and as a missionary in Sierre Leone.
 
Services were held Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Reed City United Methodist Church.  Arrangements were handled by Countryside Funeral Home in Elgin, IL 847-289-8054. Interment was at Rose Lake Township Cemetery.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
